January 31, 2018

2018 has been called the year of the woman. All across the country, women are rising up, speaking out, and demanding change on issues that matter most. From sexual harassment in the workplace to equal pay and gender issues, women are uniting and fighting for equality.

Sweat With Soul is a brand that aims to spread positivity and empowering messages. We promote unity and celebrate women (and men!) who are strong from the inside out.

Our Woman Warrior shirt is for all the badass women who have been challenged and pushed to the edge, who--instead of breaking--rise up and come out stronger on the other side. They are women who find strength in their struggle and our latest campaign features Megan Le – a Los Angeles based actress and martial artist – who embodies the essence of what it is to be a woman warrior.

Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Megan began dance at the age of three. Excelling in all aspects of dance, including ballet, jazz, hip hop and tap, she became a competitive gymnast as well. After graduating high school, she moved to the City of Angels and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She quickly began booking national commercials as well as film and stage roles. Her love of movement and performing led her to train in martial arts including Kung Fu, Wu Shu, and Tae Kwon Do.

“Growing up, I excelled as a dancer. On the outside I was confident, but inside I was insecure and believed, “I am not enough.” My insecurity fueled an intense and constant pursuit of needing to be better and look perfect. As a dancer, there’s a lot of art and expression along with physical fitness, but there can also be great concern about trying to make one’s physical appearance acceptable. It's been a struggle over the years to recognize this and to manage these harmful ego voices. Only recently, around the age of 30, did I start to accept myself as a true artist and started appreciating my art… and then I wasn’t so concerned about my body’s appearance, but rather its function. Now feeling fit allows me to feel powerful, which allows me to express who I am authentically.”

Megan is currently pregnant with her first child and continues to train (safely) while carrying her baby. She is due in March and says she will take a break from work to give her full attention to her baby before going back to work and the gym transformed and stronger than before.

You inspire us, Megan Le!
